Mount Rinjani Trekking Insurance Guide
Understanding your insurance options is an important part of preparing for a safe Mount Rinjani trekking experience. This guide explains the available coverage, benefits, and recommendations for all hikers.
Why Insurance Matters on Mount Rinjani
Mount Rinjani is one of Indonesia’s most spectacular trekking destinations, rising to 3,726 meters above sea level. The trail includes steep volcanic ascents, loose gravel slopes, narrow crater ridges, and challenging descents toward Segara Anak Lake.
Weather conditions can change quickly, bringing rain, strong winds, and cold temperatures. Due to the mountain’s remote location, access to medical facilities may be limited. Common trekking risks include slips, sprains, exhaustion, dehydration, and altitude-related symptoms.
Proper preparation, suitable equipment, and adequate insurance coverage can help ensure a safer and more enjoyable trekking experience.

There are two insurance options available for Mount Rinjani trekkers:
Basic Insurance and Premium Insurance.

Our Recommendation
For maximum safety and peace of mind, we strongly recommend selecting Premium Trekking Insurance when trekking Mount Rinjani. Additional protection can be invaluable in the event of an accident, medical emergency, or evacuation requirement.
Who Should Consider Premium Insurance?
Premium Trekking Insurance is particularly recommended if:
- You do not have personal travel insurance.
- Your policy excludes trekking or hiking activities.
- Your insurance does not include emergency evacuation.
- Your coverage does not extend to high-altitude trekking.
For Hikers with Existing Travel Insurance
If you already have valid travel insurance that includes mountain trekking coverage, purchasing Premium Trekking Insurance is optional.
During registration, the Mount Rinjani National Park Authority requires the following information:
- Insurance Provider Name
- Insurance Policy Number
These details can be submitted through the Hallo Trekker Booking Confirmation Form during the reservation process.
