Day 0

When you arrive at Lombok, no matter if it’s at the airport or by boat, our staff are able to pick you up and transfer you to our hotel and office in Senaru. Once you arrive in Senaru, you will meet our staff, who will assist in completing your registration, before a short briefing with your guide. You will learn about the trekking procedure and get prepared for the trip. Arriving at the latest 1h before sunset, you can go see the Sindang Gile and Tiu Kelap Waterfall. Please note, you can arrive the same day as the trekking. But we recommend you come the day before and spend the night so there will be no delays.

Day 1

Our guide will pick you up at hotel lobby at 06.30 AM, then transfer and Register at the Rinjani Information Center (RIC) in Sembalun Lawang Village (1,156 m). You will meet your guide and arrange the National Park entry tickets. The trek starts with a gentle ascent, walking through open grassland used as cattle grazing by local people. Resting at Pos 1 Pemantauan (1,300), after about three hours from Sembalun we will reach Pos 2, Tengengean (1,500 m), where we can enjoy the beautiful views of Mt. Rinjani summit (3,726 m). Another hour’s ascent to Pos 3 Pada Balong (1,800 m), we start the third phase and half climb amidst the pine-like Casuarinas species, locally known as Cemara, perhaps seeing evidence of wild pigs and the long-tailed grey macaque monkeys, to the camp site at Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639 m).

Day 2

02.30am will be a light breakfast, and we will begin the necessary preparations for the hard three-hour climb to the summit (3,726 m). Once there, you can enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction, and the amazing sunrise views across the Wallace Line to Bali, Mt. Agung and Sumbawa. 06.30am, an optional tour departs the summit for Sembalun Crater Rim Camp – walking time approx 1.5 hours. After breakfast, we go down to the lake Segara Anak (2,000 m) within the Rinjani crater. Mt. Baru is an island in the lake and an active volcano, last erupting dramatically in 1994. And we shall return down the ridge passing numerous edelweiss plants, Bunga Abadi, to the crater rim camp for a well-deserved breakfast. It takes two to three hours down the steep trail to the crater lake and day 2’s camp. The rest of the day is spent relaxing, swimming in the lake and exploring the caves and a pilgrimage to the hot springs, believed to have healing powers,

Day 3

After breakfast, we will leave the lake and climb for two and half hours up to Plawangan 1 senaru Crater Rim (2,461 m). After lunchm we shall enjoy the views of the lake from the other side, relax, explore and await the sunset. If the wind is cold, you may prefer to descend one hour to Cemara Lima and camp in the more sheltered forest.

Day 4

After breakfast, we descend down the long trail to Senaru village (601 m), through thick tropical forests rich in flora, bird life and a variety of butterflies. You might see orchids and, if lucky, the rare black ebony leaf monkey, known locally as lutung. Rest stops are taken along the way, with village stories and local legends related by your guide. Features include the Batu Penyesalan stone and Bayan tree bunut ngengkang that looks like someone standing with their legs apart.
